Mysuru: The Mysuru City Police have assured that they have made foolproof security arrangements for the Dasara festivities including the grand finale to be held without any untoward incident. They also said that they would be providing the same security for the cultural procession on October 14 which is being conducted by the Dasara Procession and Torchlight Committee.
In a press meet, Dr A Subramanyeswara Rao, City Police Commissioner said that almost 3000-4000 people including artists and college students would be participating in this huge cultural procession. He also said that over 1000 students from various colleges in Mysuru would be wearing traditional outfits and almost 500 youth who are taking part in Yuva Sambhrama will take part in this procession.
The procession, which begins from the Mysore Palace at 3:30 PM will pass through the Jumboo Savari route before ending at the Torchlight Parade grounds in Bannimantap. They would include a march of caparisoned elephants, 40 folk troupes and various artistes from Mysuru and other districts.
Regarding the safety precautions that they have taken, he voices out that they have increased the number of seats by at least 11,000 in number, a separate contingent of policemen consisting of both senior and junior personnel will attend to security matters for the VIP and that they have added special barricades for the Jumboo Savari. He also said that they have installed 86 new CCTV cameras of which 56 are permanent at different vantage points.
He said that they have arranged for traffic ban and extra parking facilities and the movement of the state-run buses have also been changed to accommodate the proceedings.
